Success-Story – Multidec-Toolsystems, Escomatic

The CNC Swiss- lathes and camtype turning machines from Escomatic are recognized for their outstanding quality while machining precision turned parts from Ø 0.3 to Ø 8mm. Compared to conventional automatic lathes, the machines from Escomatic are qualified by their singular functioning. The material is leaded as a reel or as a bar. I doesn’t turn ; the raw material is machined by a rotative head, which is holding cutting tools (the part is static – the cutting edges are turning). This operation allows assets, especially concerning yields and surface quality.

The company UTILIS AG is working with Escomatic in order to constantly develop new optimal solutions in the field of tool systems and cutting tools. The replacement of burrs by indexable cutting inserts and holders makes the customer save setup and change time.

Equiping a old D6 machine from Escomatic with new systems made of indexable inserts and tool-holders, instead of carbide burrs, made us observe that performances were significant for the customer;  first, it showed this investment worths and immediately affects the decrease of production costs: a CHF 2,500.00 (about € 2,000.00) investment makes the customer decrease his costs from CHF 800.00 (€ 650.00) monthly. Previously, the customer used to need 15-30 minutes daily for setting up and changing the burrs. (More, the burrs have to be resharpen and rebrazed). The change of tooling system, composed of indexable inserts and tool-holders, only needs a couple of minutes for the setup; downtimes have been extremely decreased, and resharping times have been simply eliminated. More, the indexable cutting-inserts have two cutting-edges, available with coating. They also have a longer lifecycle.
